The fresh foods have been always benefic for the human body. Eating and drinking “living” food, as they call raw food diets, is good not only for weight loss or detoxification, but for the general health of our body. A raw food diet can offer numerous health benefits. A raw food diet is a natural diet and will increase your wellbeing.

Following a raw food diet means eating uncooked, organic, vegies and fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, grains, dried fruits, fresh juices and purified water. Actually we may call it a vegetarian diet. Living foods and juices contain fiber that can be lost in processing. The digestive system asimilate easier such foods which are lower in calories than the average food.

Heating food the enzymes which help the digestion are destroyed and the nutritional value is diminished. A diet of raw food increase energy, improve skin appearance, helps the digestion, reduce the body weight and risks like heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

A raw food diet contains little or no saturated fats, is low in sodium, high in potassium, magnesium, folate and fiber and detoxify the body. Different combinations of raw foods and juices can be used for colon cleansing, liver cleansing, kidney cleansing and skin cleansing.

Any fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, beans, nuts, legumes, young coconut milk, even seaweed, can be parts of a raw food diet. The diet depends on your reasons for dieting. Here are few examples:

* Sprouted brown rice slows glucose absorption and improves the metabolism.

* Cabbage supports healthy cellular function.

* Radish and Shitake mushroom leaves act as an anti-oxidant.

* Carrots are a great source of vitamin A and are benefic for healthy vision and a healthy cardio-vascular system

.* Fennel reduce and control inflammation of arthritis, mood fluctuation and depressive states and contains manganese, zinc and vitamin B complex.

Fresh juices are a great energy supplement. A very healthy juice consists from 4 medium carrots, 2 apples, 1 small potato and 1 small stalk of fennel.

Grains and seeds have a great nutritional value. They contain most of the vitamins – particularly A, B, and E. They contain also unsaturated fatty acids and lecithin, and are an excellent source of proteins. A good idea for breakfast is a non – dairy drinks consisting from soy milk with beans, rice, nuts, seeds and grains.

However, it is indicated to consult your doctor or a nutritionist before beginning a raw food diet, especially when we are talking about children and pregnant women. This is available and for persons with special medical conditions, like anemia.

Although we are talking about natural foods, they still can conflict with certain medications, so, it is indicated also to consult your doctor or your pharmacist before starting a raw food diet, or if you have started it and you need medication.

The detoxification can have also colateral effects like headaches, nausea and cravings. These effects could last for several days and it is indicated to cut down meat, sugar and caffeine at least one week before starting a raw food diet.

A raw food diet can improve your health and wellbeing, but it takes time, energy and commitment. Combined with regular exercise, a raw food diet is also an excellent weight loss method.
